WATERPROOFING INSTRUCTIONS

Tools necessary.  Small broom, ash pan and hand broom, broad knife, variable speed drill, spirit level, mixing paddle, stanley knife, scissors, measuring tape, latex gloves, polyurethane sausage gun, sontara tape, masking tape, primer, knee pads, zylene, plastic buckets x 3 and appropriate waterproof membrane, glad wrap to wrap around brush’s & rollers, rags & plastic sheet to mix product.

Waterproofing: must be 100% correct.
There is no margin for error.

For normal bathroom and balcony application where the surface is to be tiled, we use polyurethane, polyester tape, liquid primer and 2 coats of fibre reinforced waterproof membrane. Each coat will be applied at right angles to the previous coat.

• During wet or colder weather it is advisable to carry a blow heater or hair dyer of hot air blower.

• PROCEEDURE FOR APPLYING the membrane

• Make sure all surfaces are thoroughly clean and all nails are hammered home
• During any down time, please place brushes and rollers in a plastic bag or similar.
• DON’T LEAVE YOUR BRUSHES IN THE CONTAINERS.
• Step 1: Apply polyurethane caulking to all inside and outside corners and edges, and apply to any recessed nail holes with a broad knife.
• Step 2: Cut to length polyester tape and neatly apply over the polyurethane-pre fold in half where applicable.
• Step 3: Apply liquid primer over the tape (Don’t flood the surface-it take s too long to dry.)
• Step 4: Apply liquid primer to all remaining surfaces to be waterproofed.
• Step 5: Apply first coat of membrane with a brush to taped areas (Thorough but light coat) then apply the balance with a roller.
• (If you have more than 1 area to waterproof, leave a heater going if applicable in first area and proceed to waterproof the second area.
  Step 6: Apply the second coat over first coat and MEASURE THE AREA
